On the occasion of International Youth Day, was held "the second Alerta Joven fair for Employment and Entrepreneurship", which sponsored the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its project Alerta Joven. This activity was attended by 135 young people, who presented 50 business plans.
The Fair aims to recognize, on one stage, entrepreneurial ideas, through micro business plans prepared by young participants. Also recognizing the commitment, creativity and vision of young entrepreneurs, which translates into income generation to improve their personal, professional, family and social welfare.
The fair had the support of the Vice President of the Dominican Republic, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Youth, United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA), and Plastbag Banreservas.
About Alerta Joven:
The three main results of Alerta Joven are: (1) Improve the policy of youth protection in practice, (2) Opportunities for young people to become productive citizens, through increased education, job placement and health services, and (3) Development of a system for youth that incorporates technical, innovative solutions to reduce crime through multidisciplinary groups, and the creation of public-private partnerships to support and promote.
Project Alerta Joven, executed by Entrena, SA, operates primarily in urban environments in seven provinces that make up the "Duarte Corridor", including the municipalities of Boca Chica, Santo Domingo, Los Alcarrizos, San Francisco de Macoris, Santiago and Puerto Plata, distributed in two ages groups: 11 to 17 years and 18 to 24, with gender equality.
